CAMP FREDDY: '45 Percent Done' Recording Vocals For Debut CD

July 20, 2005

CAMP FREDDY — the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of ex-JANE'S ADDICTION/RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar),VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan) — are about "45 percent done" with recording the guest vocal appearances for their debut album, tentatively due in late 2005/early 2006 via an as-yet-undetermined label. "The band is finished with everything. We are just getting all the guest vocals done but it takes time to try to get everyone's schedule together," Navarro explained in an online posting. "I'd say we are like 45 percent done with the vocals."

CAMP FREDDY's debut album is being recorded with producer Mike Clink (GUNS N' ROSES, METALLICA) and is believed to be a collection of covers, featuring guest singers, guitarists and even the odd guest drummer or two (including former ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell, ex-THE CULT axeman Billy Duffy, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and singer Macy Gray). An extension of the group's live show, the record is expected to feature 12 songs, the basic tracks for which were recorded last year.
